THE STORY BEHIND THE HOTEL
Bellagio opened in 1998 as Steve Wynn's attempt to bring European resort refinement to the Strip, modelled loosely on the village of Bellagio on Lake Como. It set the template that later luxury resorts followed — art, fine dining and landscaped water features placed ahead of neon spectacle. The property later became part of MGM Resorts.

Fountains of Bellagio
Choreographed water jets rise from the 8-acre lake in front of the resort, set to music that changes from show to show. The best free viewing is from the lakeside sidewalk on the Strip. Performances run on a repeating schedule and can be paused in high wind — check the official Bellagio page or on-site signage on the day of your visit.
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
Just off the lobby, the Conservatory is a glass-roofed garden that is completely redesigned several times a year — spring displays, summer installations, autumn harvest scenes and an elaborate holiday show. Admission is free, and because the displays change seasonally, repeat visitors always see something new. Note there are short installation closures between displays.
Fiori di Como — the Chihuly lobby ceiling
Above the front desk, around 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers by artist Dale Chihuly cover the lobby ceiling in a wash of colour. It takes a minute to find if you enter from the Strip — walk straight through to the main lobby and look up. Free to view, and one of the most photographed interiors in Las Vegas.
